Assemblymember Akilah Weber M.D. Recognizes
Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders Honorees

 

SAN DIEGO – Accounting for about 16% of the state's population, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders continue to be among the fastest growing racial and ethnic groups in the state. During the month of May, we celebrate the culture and history of California’s diverse and expansive Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. 

Below is more information about each of my honorees!

 Community Leader Honoree:

Rev MaugaThe Community Leader honoree is Reverend Benson Mauga who is pastor of the First Samoan Baptist Community Church located in Lemon Grove.

He also oversees the Samoan Athletes: Heart of Champion Sports Ministry!

 

 

  Small Business Honoree:

Island Life Foods

The Small Business honoree is Island Life Foods, a mobile food service specializing in Hawaiian foods.

It is owned and ran by Chef Maui, his wife Jenn, and their son Ikaika!
