SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber (D-San Diego) issued the following statement in response to the leaked draft Supreme Court Decision overturning Roe v. Wade:

“I stand with California’s Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, and Governor Gavin Newsom in support of a constitutional amendment to enshrine the a woman’s right to choose in California. Reproductive care is health care and we must make sure that all women have access to safe and affordable abortions.”

The need for my bill, AB 2134, the California Abortion and Reproductive Equity Act, which would establish the Reproductive Health Equity Program to provide grants to providers who offer reproductive and sexual health care, free of cost, to patients with low-incomes and those who lack health care coverage for reproductive health services is greater than ever.
