SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber (D-San Diego) issued the following statement:
“Today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced his reproductive health package ahead of his May Revise to the state budget. I am elated that he has prioritized the urgency of protecting women’s reproductive health care by including $40 million in funding for my bill AB 2134, the California Abortion and Reproductive Equity Act. This bill and funding appropriation would provide grants to providers who offer reproductive and sexual health care to patients who lack coverage, assuring that our most vulnerable low income and communities of color have access to this essential care. We thank our AB 2134 sponsors; ACCESS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, Essential Access Health, National Health Law Program (NHeLP), NARAL Pro-Choice California and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC)” said Assemblymember Akilah Weber, M.D.
