Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber Issues Letter on AB 1993

For immediate release:

March 29, 2022

Dear Neighbor:

Thank you for contacting my office to express your concerns with AB 1993 (Wicks), pertaining to employer-mandated COVID-19 vaccines. I have listened to your concerns and happy to know you are engaged in the legislative process.

The percentage of vaccinated San Diegans (81.5%) is higher than the state average (74.4%) and the data showing the slowing of the spread has been encouraging. Therefore, I requested to remove my name as a co-author of AB 1993. Further, the author of the bill announced that it will no longer be moving through the legislative process.

The COVID-19 pandemic has truly been a testament of our willingness to work together through a public health crisis. Many people have lost their lives and their loved ones from this horrible disease. It is my hope that we will continue working together to save lives and create a healthier California for all.

Sincerely,

Dr. Akilah Weber
Assemblymember, 79th District
