Virtual Internship

Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber is seeking undergraduate college students who are interested in civic engagement and community service to join the #TeamWeber Virtual Internship Program. The program commitment is 6-12 months with a minimum of 8 hours per week. As an intern, you will provide support to staff and the Assemblymember with special events, constituent services, issue research, office communications, and other general administrative duties.

Benefits:
Although unpaid, interns receive great experience such as working directly with elected officials, community leaders and local residents. This exposure to legislative work in a State Assembly office offers significant professional development. Interns may also qualify for internship credit from their university or school. Preference will be given to applicants who live, work, or attend school in the 79th Assembly District. You may also check out a map of the district: https://a79.asmdc.org/district-map.

How to apply:
Please fill out the application below. You must also upload a resume and cover letter. Your cover letter should describe your interest in public service and why you would like to intern in Assemblymember Akilah Weber’s office. Selected applicants will be invited for a virtual interview. If you have any questions, please email Chevelle Newell-Tate, District Director, at Chevelle.Newell-Tate@asm.ca.gov. Please note that this a voluntary and unpaid internship. Thank you for your interest!
