(Los Angeles) - Assemblymember Shirley N. Weber (D-San Diego), chair of the Assembly Budget Committee and a member of the Legislative Black Caucus, convened an informational briefing at the California African American Museum to discuss the importance of her Assembly Concurrent Resolution 71. ACR 71 is sponsored by the California Legislative Black Caucus and is intended to highlight the legacy and invaluable contribution of California’s Africana Studies departments and programs and other related academic disciplines. “Africana studies and related academic disciplines promote a view of ethnic groups as significant contributors to the history and diversity of California and United States history,” said Assemblymember Weber. “We need to ensure these disciplines continue to be offered at higher education institutions.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
