Assemblymember Weber Urges Us to Continue the Mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, January 27, 2014

(Sacramento) – Senate Concurrent Resolution 73 declared January 20, 2014 as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in California.  California State Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) stood on the Floor of the Assembly, not to tell her colleagues what a great man Dr. King was, but instead to challenge all of us continue his work to completion.

“Justice and freedom is a rare flower that has to be nurtured and cared for regularly,” said Weber.  “But hatred is a weed that grows best in neglect.”
