Assemblymember Weber Has Mixed Reviews for Governor's State of the State Speech

(Sacramento) -- Overall, California State Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) was pleased with Governor Jerry Brown's State of the State Address. Assemblymember Weber is happy with the governor's plan to invest in education, but she was disappointed that he did not talk about helping California's underprivileged and underperforming students.

"We need to double down and really talk about closing the achievement gap," stated Weber.

Weber also believes that we as a state must address the issue of poverty and find ways to "keep the good things going while at the same time bring the bottom up with us."
