(Sacramento) - A coalition of California public school teachers joined Assemblymember Shirley N. Weber (D-San Diego) at a “Teach In” in the State Capitol to launch the Teacher and Student Success Act (AB 1220). This bill would provide teachers the additional time and support they need to develop classroom effectiveness and achieve tenure. “There is consensus among teachers, administrators, and the public that the 18-month timeline is too short for teachers to demonstrate effectiveness,” said Assemblymember Weber. “K-12 teachers deserve to have adequate time to demonstrate their skill in the classroom and to have tenure recognized as a benchmark of their professionalism and effectiveness.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
